Overview
The Berliner Kinderchor is a long-standing group (80 years!) that brings together young singers, between the age of 6 to 16. While the choir has a strong artistic foundation and a clear cultural presence, its visual communication had not evolved at the same pace.
Project scope
To continue attracting new generations of young singers and engage parents in a digital landscape, the choir needed a cohesive visual identity that reflects both its heritage and its vibrant, youthful community. A design system would help strengthen recognition, improve consistency across platforms, and support the choir’s public presence both offline and online.
Result
The redesign of the logo features a singing bear cub, a playful nod to Berlin’s iconic bear, symbolises both playfulness and pride. The colour palette stays true to the city’s identity (red, black, and white), but I added additional softer tones to make the colour palette more inviting and suitable for a younger audience. This visual direction reflects the choir’s dual character: rooted in tradition, yet lively and welcoming to new generations.
To support the choir beyond the logo, I developed a set of ready-to-use Canva templates for social media. These make it easy for the non-designer choir team to create announcements, concert posts, and updates quickly and consistently.
It was truly a project of community and the value of music.
